Rahane, Shah took the game away: Vettori

Bangalore, Apr 16: Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Daniel Vettori praised young Ajinkya Rahane for his brilliant ton and Owais Shah's quick-fire fifty that helped Rajasthan Royals register a 59-run win against the home team in the fifth season of Indian Premier League at Bangalore on Sunday.

Rahane's 103* off 60 balls, was the highlight of the match, apart from the youngster's partnership with Owais Shah (60 off 29 balls) being the turning point of the match. The duo added 121 runs off 8.2 overs (50 balls) for the second wicket which helped Royals to set a target of 196, after winning the toss.

The target seemed to be impossible to achieve for the home team though the playing XI included players like Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, AB deVilliers, Daniel Vettori, Saurabh Tiwary and others as they were bundled out for 136 in 19.5 overs.

"We were pretty satisfied with how we started but then Rahane and Shah really took the game away from us. We know we can come back from this. We need to get back to winning ways," Vettori said after the demoralising 59-run loss.

Rahul Dravid, Rajasthan Royals skipper also lauded the duo for their incredible knocks as that resulted in their win against a playing XI that boasts of five international bowlers.

"Shah and Rahane batted splendidly. Some of their shots were incredible and they played those shots against a side that has five international bowlers," he said.

Man of the match, Ajinkya Rahane also admitted that it was a very special knock and congratulated the team for their effort.

"That was a special knock from me and I would like to congratulate my teammates for their performance as well," he said.

"I am playing along side my role model, Dravid, so I get to learn a lot of things from him. This is quite a long tournament, so I just need to keep my form going," Rahane added.
