Chennai, Apr 22: Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni scored two runs off the last ball to clinch a last-ball thrilling victory over Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
Opener Faf du Plessis scored a vital 52-ball 73 to lay foundation for Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo to secure a seven-wivket win over Dravid and Co.
Dhoni credited his bowlers, who restricted Rajasthan Royals to low score of 146/4. "Games like these, you need to be calm right through the end. we bowled well, there were a few overs where we gave away a lot of runs but Kulasekara bowled well. The last ball, had it gone straight to hand, it would have been a Super Over and that is never an easy thing, Dhoni, who scored the winning runs off the last, said during the post match presentation ceremony.
Rajsthan Royals skipper Rahul Dravid lauded his bowlers performance who took the game till the last ball though they were defending a low target.
"You got to give credit to the bowlers, they restricted us to the score, we fell 20-25 runs short. Proud of the way the boys bowled, lot of young boys and we have done well. The way Stuart Binny bowled to the likes of Dhoni and Bravo was excellent," Dravid Said.
Faf du Plessis, who was adjudged man-of-the-match for the second time in a row, said he was used to the slow wicket at Chepauk, "We have played here a couple of days and got 150 plus, so we are used to the slow wicket. I am in a good space, good form, when you are in good form you need to cash in, trying to take it easy, not think too much" he said.
Chennai registered their second back-to-back victories to claim fourth spot while Rajasthan retain their second place in the points table.
