New Delhi, Apr 26: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali, on Thursday, met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the latter's residence here.
It is learnt that it was a courtesy visit by Tendulkar and his wife at 10, Janpath residence. Tendulkar is in Delhi to play IPL 5 match against Delhi Daredevils.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi will meet at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Friday.
Sonia wanted to meet Tendulkar and personally congratulate him on achieving the historic feat of scoring 100 centuries recently. This is Tendulkar's first visit to Delhi after scoring his 100th international hundred against Bangladesh on March 16 in Mirpur in Asia Cup.
IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla was also present at Sonia's residence. According to sources, Tendulkar and his wife spent close to half an hour with Sonia. The Congress President is learnt to have talked in general about cricket and wished the player luck for his future.
Tendulkar turned 39 on Tuesday and is currently focused on taking his team Mumbai Indians to IPL title. He had to miss few games to a finger injury sustained during the opening IPL 5 game against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on April 4.
As Mumbai and Delhi face off on Friday, it is expected to be a thrilling contest.
