Mohali, Apr 26: Sachin Tendulkar has described the 19th over hitting by Mumbai Indians batsmen Robin Peterson and Ambati Rayudu against Kings XI Punjab as “one of the most exciting overs I have seen in my life.”
Tendulkar tweeted about his experience after watching the batting from the dressing room. Rayudu and Peterson handed Mumbai a four-wicket victory over Punjab at the PCA Stadium on Wednesday.
Peterson and Rayudu plundered 27 runs in the 19th over of Mumbai's chase and Rayudu finished the game off in the penultimate ball of the match with a boundary. Mumbai successfully chased down 168.
The 19th over was bowled by legspinner Piyush Chawla with Mumbai needing 32 runs to win off the final 12 balls.
“The 19th over changed everything for us. It is definitely one of the most exciting overs I have seen in my life.....” tweeted Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) on Thursday.
Tendulkar, who opened the batting for Mumbai, was dismissed for 34 and watched the final overs excitement from the pavilion.
He praised Rohit Sharma, Rayudu and Peterson. Tendulkar called their batting as “unbelievable.”
“What an unbelievable batting by Rohit,Rayudu and Robin to help MI win yesterdays match. Way to go MI!!!”
He also praised Peterson for innovating hitting. The South African scored boundaries with switch-hits.
“Some extraordinary innovative hitting by Robin n unbelievably strong finish by Rayudu,” Tendulkar tweeted.
