Sangakkara praises White after first win

Pune, Apr 27: Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara felt relieved after his side clinch their first win in IPL 5 after beating Pune Warriors at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium on Thursday.

The Chargers have finally won a game after five losses and a washout, but the Chargers still remain at the bottom of the table with a total of just three points. Sangakkara praised Cameron White for his match-winning 46-ball 78.

"(We are) Finally on the board, a great effort, especially by Cameron White with the bat. We played Rusty (Theron) for a purpose and he was outstanding and young Ashish Reddy played well." Sangakkara said at the post match presentation ceremony.

Sangakkara also said it was crucial to get through first six overs with four overs of spin.

Pune Warriors skipper Sourav Ganguly admitted that the 15-20 extra runs towards the end proved costly, "As I said at the toss I would have fielded, we gave away 15-20 runs extra. We did not have partnerships, someone needed to carry on." Ganguly said after his team's second loss in a row.

Cameron White, who was adjudged man of the match for his 46-ball 78, hopes this win will ease the pressure on the team. "It's a good feeling to get a win, been under pressure as a team. Hopefully it's the start of a few wins in a row. "

Both the sides will once again play in a return leg tie at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack
