New Delhi, Apr 27: Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag is gearing up to play his first ever Indian Premier League match against a Member of Parliament!
The match Sehwag is talking about is Friday's clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
With Sachin Tendulkar confirmed as a Rajya Sabha MP, this will be a first that a Member of Parliament will be playing an IPL game.
Tendulkar's India team-mate and now Delhi skipper, Sehwag tweeted on Friday about the match and hoped the weather would be fine.
“My first ipl game against a rajya sabha member ;) Hope the weather holds n we get a full game today.” tweeted Sehwag (@virendersehwag).
Though Tendulkar is yet to take oath as an MP, his nomination is already approved by the President of India, Pratibha Patil. Tendulkar, who has broken many records on a cricket field, has add one more in another field. He is the first active cricketer to be nominated as Rajya Sabha MP.
He met Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday and later in the evening his nomination was confirmed.
It would be interesting to see how he will be received by the fans at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday night as he pads up for a new innings in a new field.
