Cuttack, May 2: Pune Warriors captain Sourav Ganguly has been fined for team's slow-over rate during their match against Deccan Chargers, which they lost by 13 runs at Cuttack on Tuesday.
According to the report, Pune Warriors were short by one and a half overs after considering allowances.
This is the first time, Ganguly has been fined for slow over-rate in the fifth edition of Indian Premier League and was fined US $20,000 for the offence, according to a media release issued by IPL.
"Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPLs Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Ganguly was fined US$20,000," the IPL media release stated.
Pune Warriors in order to restrict the Chargers to a decent total, took more time to bowl their set of 20 overs, as they were one and a half overs behind the required rate which forced the officials to charge Sourav Ganguly $20,000 of his match fee for the same offence.
