Kolkata, May 3: Sourav Ganguly's home town gears up for the clash between Pune Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders as 12 giant screens will be installed across the city in order to help the cricket enthusiasts to watch the match live when they are on the move.
The Cricket Association of Bengal has planned to install 12 Giant screens across the city including neighbouring districts of the city, as it will help people watch the action live and especially for fans who have missed out on tickets for the most awaited match of IPL season 5.
"At home you have your television. But what about those who will be out on the roads for various reasons? As the local cricketing body we want them to savour the flavour of the match while on the move," CAB joint secretary Biswarup Dey told IANS.
Mr Dey said, six screens would be installed around the stadium after discussing the same with police, IPL and Kolkata Knight Riders authorities. While KKR are the organisers of the game, CAB are acting as the facilitator.
While other intersections like Gariahat, Sealdah, College Street, Kankurgachi, Salt Lake and even in the neighbouring Howrah district.
"We have already discussed the matter verbally with the police. We will now send them a formal letter for permission. I don't think they will have any objections to installation of giant screens in other parts of the city.
"Regarding those we are planning to install in the vicinity of the stadium, we have to ascertain how far from the venue they want those to be put up," he said.
If giant screens are installed, then it will be the first of its kind in the history of IPL as none of them have tried it before.
"But then no other game in the tournament's history has aroused such raw passion," Dey said.
While he also spoke about the security beefed up for Saturday's clash between Ganguly-led Pune Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders.
"There will be more policemen, tighter security for the players and spectators in and around the stadium to ensure there is no untoward incidents," he said.
