'Kolkata's sentiments will be with Dada'

Kolkata, May 5: Sourav Ganguly's homecoming includes lot of emotions as people of Kolkata, have already offered support to Dada-led Pune Warriors, despite playing against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday.

After seven losses in the tournament, Ganguly would hope to beat the home team and help Warriors get the winning momemtum back, while this has left the fans in a dilemma as they need to choose between Dada and KKR.

The former Indian captain has never played against the home team so far, as he has only represented India, Bengal and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. For the first time Ganguly will be facing the home team, as fans have already welcomed their hero with both arms, and insist on supporting him rather than cheering Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ganguly's inspirational captaincy groomed the young Bengal side to win the Vijay Hazare One day Trophy this year.

Moreover, that suggests players like Debabrata Das, Manoj Tiwary, Laxmi Ratan Shukla have flourished under Dada's captaincy as they find it difficult to play against their hero and mentor.

Though Manoj Tiwary said the team is not under pressure to play against their mentor, he also admitted that Dada's Warriors will get more support than KKR.

"Kolkata's sentiments will definitely be with Sourav. He is an icon here. It will be an exciting game. I can't wait to get on the field. We will treat this as a normal game. Players are not under pressure for this game," Tiwary said.

"I think 80 percent of Eden will support Dada, 20 percent us. Dada is a great captain and Pune started well under him," he said.

While his team mate Shukla said, KKR is treating this game as just another game and as hyped this is not a match against Sourav Ganguly alone, while they are playing Pune Warriors on Saturday.

"We will treat this as another game. We will be playing against Pune Warriors and not Sourav Ganguly. I am not a spectator, I am a professional player. I will try to give my best in the match," Shukla said

Many people apart from cricketers have expressed their opinion on Ganguly's Warriors getting more support as people of Kolkata do not like to see Sourav landing up on the losing side.

Joint Secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal, Mr Sujan Mukherjee has also voiced his opinion, saying "See I don't think that people of Bengal would like to see Sourav Ganguly being defeated. Most of them do want Sourav to win. I think it's fifty-fifty."

While curator Prabir Mukherjee has said, "If Sourav plays well, I will be happy. He is one of the finest cricketers India has ever seen. He is like my younger brother. I want him to suceed on May 5th."

The rest of Bengal feels the same, as Sourav Ganguly is truly the prince of Kolkata and people just love Dada, and would love to watch him succeed. While many people say it is just another match, people can make out that it isn't true. Hope Dada's Dadagiri works in Eden.
