Pune, May 7: After losing five in a row, Pune Warriors look to end their losing streak while Rajasthan Royals woule like to their momentum after their win against Kings XI Punjab, ahead of Game 52 of the IPL match at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium on Tuesday.
Pune Warriors, depsite of a good comeback, there are a few issues that need to be sorted out before their crucial tie against Royals at home.
Sourav Ganguly-led Warriors, lack partnerships from the middle order as the team has been losing a couple of wickes which puts pressure on Ganguly and Angelo Mathews like they did on Saturday.
Pune have lost quite a few close encounters off their 12 games. They have lost eight matches and won only four as they are placed eighth in the points table and are on the verge of crashing out of contention for the play-offs.
This suggests that Warriors need to win all the matches or atleast three matches from now onwards to fancy their chances in playing the play-offs.
Team needs to concentrate on fielding, bowling as well as getting a few good partnerships at the start of the innings as they are struggling to score runs inspite of having talented players in the playing XI.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are also playing for a play-off berth as they are placed sixth in the points table with 10 points. With Chennai, Bangalore, Royals and Kings XI placed from third to seventh in the points table, stakes are rated high now as every match is important in terms of qualifying for the play-off.
Rahul Dravid's XI is also facing a few issues as the team's batting depends a lot on Ajinkya Rahane and the skipper, the team needs some good partnerships from the middle-order. With Shane Watson back in the side, the team ended its losing streak against Kings XI Punjab as they won by 43 runs.
Previous win was a morale booster for Dravid & Co., as they look forward to continue the momentum and take advantage of their demoralised opponents, who are low on morale, after five consecutive losses.
Former India captains clash against each other for the first time in IPL 5, as expectations are soaring high after motivating their respective teams. Going by the current form, Dravid's XI might have a psychological egde over Ganguly's Warriors.
