New Delhi, May 14: After two losses, Delhi Daredevils would be cautious as they take on Kings XI Punjab in a crucial tie at Feroz Shah Kotla on Tuesday as David Hussey's XI look to keep their play-off hopes alive.
Delhi Daredevils, having secured 18 points off 13 games would qualify for the play-offs, the onus is on Hussey's men as they have registered a couple of wins off close matches off late and have secured 14 points off 13 games.
Seventh placed Punjab look to take advantage of Kevin Pietersen-less Daredevils to stay afloat in the tournament.
Delhi Daredevils look to guard against complacency as they have already qualified for the play-offs, as they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders on May 7 and came back strongly to defeat Deccan Chargers by 9 wickets on May 10.
Delhi have a strong side, with an excellent bowling and batting line-up they need some resistence from their middle-order which looks shaky at times in the absence of Kevin Pietersen.
While David Hussey's side are enjoying their good-run in the tournament as they still stand a chance to qualify for play-offs, thanks to the srap mid-table fight, as all the teams apart from Delhi and Kolkata stand a chance to qualify except Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers as they are virtually out of the tournament following more losses in the early stages of the league.
Kings XI Punjab on the other hand are enjoying the success of young Parvinder Awana, who was the second highest wicket-taker of last year's IPL, and since he is also from Delhi, his inputs about Kotla wicket will sure help Punjab.
The team has blossomed under David Hussey's captaincy while Azhar Mahmood's inclusion has given the team the much needed balance, and a mentor in Adam Gilchrist, the team would surely look to upset the table toppers on Tuesday.
