New Delhi, May 22: South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell playing for Pune Warriors in IPL 5 issued a statement stating that he was confident of his results coming clean, a day after he was being detained on charges of consuming banned drugs at a rave party in Mumbai on Sunday.
Parnell added saying he was there at the wrong place at the wrong time, as he alongwith his team mate Rahul Sharma had been to a friend's birthday party and had planned to leave the hotel by 8pm.
"Myself and Rahul (Sharma) were invited to a friend’s birthday party and we arrived at the hotel at around 5.30 pm in the evening. We had planned on leaving the party at 8 pm to get some dinner and at around 7 pm the raid happened," he said adding that they were sent to a hospital in Mumbai where blood and urine samples were taken.
"As International cricketers, we get tested regularly for drugs as part of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), so I am confident that nothing will show up in my urine and blood tests."
The South African all-rounder further added saying that he had not done anything wrong.
"At no stage was I arrested or detained, I was calm because I knew that I hadn’t done anything wrong, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time."
