Chennai, May 26: Destiny's child MS Dhoni does it again for Chennai Super Kings as they qualified for their fourth IPL final after defeating Virender Sehwag-led Delhi Daredevils by 86 runs at M A Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Riding high on Murali Vijay's 58-ball 113, Chennai posted a mammoth 222/5 in their 20 overs. In the absence of Morne Morkel and Irfan Pathan, Delhi pace attack looked hapless as Varun Aaron was hit for 63 runs off his 4 overs, while Andre Russel and Umesh Yadav conceded 7.5 and 6.75 runs per over. Debutant player Sunny Gupta conceded 15.66 runs per over.
MS Dhoni, pleased with his team's performance, credited his batsmen as they played a vital role in their success. The Chennai skipper also spoke about the wicket which assisted batsmen.
"Personally, I thought they had had line-up to do it but it was not going to be easy. It was a good wicket to bat initially and it was pretty good in the second half also," Dhoni said.
"It was up to the individuals, Vijay and Hussey gave us a good start, we are a side that relies a lot on good starts.
Dhoni praised Suresh Raina and Dwayne Bravo for providing the acceleration towards the end of the innings.
"It good to see (Suresh) Raina hitting a few balls away and in the end it was closed off well by Bravo."
Having registered a 86-run win over Delhi Daredevils, Chennai have stormed into the finals for the fourth time in IPL. With two wins, Chennai would aim for a hat-trick this season as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders on May 27, Sunday.
