Rave party bust: 44 tested positive

Mumbai, Jun 23: Almost 44 out of 46 people who were held by Mumbai Police during the 'rave party' in May 2012 at Hotel Oakwoods in Juhu have tested positive for drugs, according to a report by a leading news channel CNN-IBN.

While twenty-six of them tested positive for charas. Two cricketers were also among the 46 held by Mumbai police, and their reports haven't come yet.

The controversy rocked the fifth edition of Indian Premier League as the two cricketers Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who were playing for Pune Warriors were also held from the same premises.

But the cricketers have maintained that they weren't aware of the rave party and had been invited for a friend's birthday party which was held at the same venue.

"I know I am innocent, if the reports (of blood tests) are positive, I will leave cricket. As I went in around 8.45pm at the restaurant, I saw police everywhere. They called me, asked me a few routine questions, took my samples and let me off. I am not scared because I have not done anything wrong."

While Wayne Parnel also denied being a part of the rave party and said "We weren't aware of any drugs there and it wasn't any rave party. It was just unfortunate that were there."

However, the Additional Commissioner of Police, Vishwas Nagre Patil said that about 110 grams of cocaine were seized from the venue, after the late night raid.
