India 'A' win a thriller in Super Over

Port of Spain, Jun 25: In a thrilling finish, India 'A' edged West Indies 'A' in the Super Over after their second unofficial Twenty20 'international' ended in a tie here at the Queens' Park Oval Stadium on Sunday.

Nkrumah Bonner, who hit a match-high of 82, carried West Indies A hopes before his wicket in the final over turned things for India A. He was dismissed by Ashok Dinda in the final over with the hosts needing just two runs from four balls. However, Dinda held his nerve to tie the game and take it to the Super Over. He also bowled in the one-over eliminator and secured victory.

Dinda was declared Man-of-the-match. He finished with bowling figures of 1/23 in four overs.

After losing the first game, the visitors bounced back to draw the two-match series. The hosts had won the first game by three wickets.

India A batted first and posted 154 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, West Indies A ended up with same score for four wickets after 20 overs.

For India, Ajinkya Rahane was the batting star with 79 runs, the top score for the visitors. The next best was from his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, who made 33.

Rahane, who enjoyed a successful fifth edtion of Indian Premier League (IPL) recently with Rajasthan Royals, took 63 balls for his 79-run knock. He hit two sixes and four fours. Left-handed opener Dhawan's 33 came off 31 balls with four boundaries. Dhawan too was impressive in IPL 5 with Deccan Chargers.

For the hosts, left-arm spinner Sulieman took two wickets for 23 runs.

India 'A' won in Super Over.
