Belfast, Jun 25: Youngster Pat Cummins, who has been the most devastating bowlers and a nightmare for the batsmen, having recorded the fastest ball at 93.5 mph against Ireland in the rain-hit ODI at Stormont, admits that being a new comer to Australian fast bowling, is still in awe of the Australian speedster Brett Lee, who is mentoring the youngster.
The 19 year old, Cummins admitted that it was a privilege to bowl in tandem with his iconic bowler Brett Lee, who has been there for over 18 years since his first class days, which is almost equal to Cummins' age.
Cummins, who is flying back home to play the Under-19 World Cup in August feels there is no one better than him, and admitted that he was talking to Lee about playing together and could bowl in tandem only during the match against Ireland in Belfast.
"We have been talking for a year now about playing together," he said.
"Through injury it has not happened, so it was good to be down the other end bowling with him.
Having learnt a lot of things and picking up a few tips from his childhood hero, Cummins was more than pleased to be talking about Lee adn spending quality time with his hero.
"Brett was the face of fast bowling for a while in Australia. It was hard not to look up to him as a kid. He is everything that a pace bowler growing up wants to be," said Cummins.
"It's great to be at the other end, just talking to him and getting tips off him. There's no better example. It was a ridiculous first over. I haven't seen the start of a game like that before. I thought I wasn't going to get a bowl at one stage."
Cummins said, "It's hard not to look up to him as a kid".
"He's everything that a young pace bowler wants to be," said Cummins.
Cummins was in awe of Brett Lee and it was evident when he started talking about Lee's fitness level. He has been inspired by Lee.
"He was fantastic. He's 35 years old and fit as he's ever been and from the first ball he was on the money. He's still a world class bowler and that Australia attack is a pretty handy bowling unit."
Looks like Cummins, is another Lee in the making, as he has been mentored by his childhood hero Brett Lee.
