Bangalore, Jun 25: India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is back at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here and on Monday said he is aiming to return to the Indian side for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka in September.
Yuvraj, who arrived here in Bangalore on Sunday, was spotted at NCA along with India players Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Varun Aaron, RP Singh and Ishant Sharma.
"Slowly my body will get stronger. The Twenty20 World Cup is the target," Yuvraj told reporters.
"I want to comeback and play for India and that is my goal. I am trying very hard. I have gone through a lot. The body has gone through a lot of shocks.
"Yes I am focused on the World Cup."
The 30-year-old, however, did not say how sure he was of playing the World T20. "At the moment I cannot say for certain. I need to strengthen my body. I need to do my cardio and need to work on my body for a month and a half."
On playing domestic tournaments, he said: "I have to see the schedule. May be in August, I should play a few tournaments down South. I am not sure about the dates so I have to check."
He added: "I have started batting again."
"Body was a bit shaky when I started (training). Gradually I have improved. After a month and a half I will be in a different state."
"I will be in NCA for a while now. The response has been great and overwhelming, feel very loved and the wishes of the whole country matters. I want to come back and play for India, that is my goal."
He said that he did not want to rush his comeback. "People are expecting me to come back very quickly, but I don't want to rush. I will have to take my time and come back 100% fit. I am trying to get fit before the World T20."
On Monday, Yuvraj was confined to indoors, mostly in the gymnasium.
Yuvraj's last ODI was the World Cup final on April 2, 2011 against Sri Lanka.
He had been diagnosed with a rare germ-cell cancer between his lungs and underwent chemotherapy in the US. His last match for India was a Test against West Indies in Kolkata in November, 2011.
After two and half months of chemotherapy in the US, Yuvraj came back to India on April 9.
Yuvraj was brilliant in the inaugural World T20 which India won in 2007 in South Africa. He smashed England's Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over. This year, the World T20 tournament starts on September 18.
