'West Indies might be over-confident'

Auckland, Jun 27: All-rounder Jacob Oram feels New Zealand can take advantage of an "over-confident" West Indies side when they meet them in Twenty20 Internationals and ODIs starting from June 30.

New Zealand Vs West Indies Schedule

New Zealand will play T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests against West Indies on tour of the United States and the Caribbean.

The tour begins in Florida with two T20I games from June 30. The ODI series commences in Kingston on July 5. It could be an exciting series.

The Kiwis will be without Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori who have been rested. However, McCullum and Vettori will return for Tests. Jesse Ryder is also not in the squad for disciplinary reasons.

"They (West Indies) might look at our team, without the likes of Brendon McCullum, Dan Vettori, Jesse Ryder and think we are a bit weaker and I think maybe that's where we can expose them," Oram was quoted as saying in New Zealand Herald newspaper on Wednesday.

"They may get complacent, a little over-confident and hopefully we can expose that," he added.

"They have their strengths but we need to find their weak links as well," Oram said.

Oram felt it was important to prepare well for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka.

"I don't think the winning and losing of this match, or series, is important. It's finding out how to play a good brand of cricket leading into the World Cup," Oram said.
