India 'A'-West Indies 'A' series tied

St. George's (Grenada), Jul 2: Rain was the winner in the deciding third and final unofficial One Day International between India 'A' and West Indies 'A' on Sunday.

It was nicely set up for the final match after both teams were tied 1-1 in the three-game series. But rain had the final say as there could be a single ball bowled at the National Cricket Stadium in St.George's.

The match was called off by umpires Vincent Bullen and Goaland Greaves after there was no respite from the rain. It had started raining overnight and continued till next day afternoon, not allowing play to start.

West Indies A had won the first match by two wickets last Wednesday. However, India A bounced back, thanks to their bowlers in the second, as the visitors won by a big 108-run margin on Friday.

It was a disappointing end to the tour. India A players will now return without winning any series. They had lost the unofficial four-day Test series too by a 1-2 verdict. The Twenty20s too had produced a 1-1 result.

For the entire duration of the Caribbean tour, India's young batsmen struggled. Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Abhinav Mukund and Shikhar Dhawan all failed to make an impact. However, fast bowler Ashok Dinda and all-rounder Jalaj Saxena made an impression in patches.
