Nagpur, Jul 3: After BCCI and Karnataka State Cricket Association, now it was Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association's turn to felicitate the legend Rahul Dravid, at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Saturday, June 30.
Dravid unveiled the dressing room at Holkar Stadium, Indore named after him as a tribute to the legend for his contribution to Indian Cricket, on Saturday evening.
While the secretary of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association said they decided to honour the legend after witnessing the felicitation in Bangalore and discussed the same with his president and the managing committee.
"I attended Dravid's felicitation in Bangalore and that's where I thought of honouring him. When I discussed this with our president Jyotiraditya Scindia and the managing committee of MPCA, they readily agreed for it. I also spoke to Mr (Sanjay) Jagdale who talked to Dravid to come here for the function, to which he agreed."
Narendra Menon, who has also officiated in many first class matches, a former BCCI panel-umpire, said he was pleased
to have met the Karnataka player.
"It's great to see how he shaped up his career and went on to become one of the greats of the game. His commitment and hard work is something youngsters can learn. He has always set high standards for him." he said.
According to sources, MPCA president Jyotiraditya Scindia and other members of the managing committee attended the felicitation on Saturday.
Dravid, who retired from international cricket on Mar 9, 2012 was felicitated by KSCA and BCCI on March 21, 27 respectively as a fitting tribute to the batting legend who has left the cricket-field with ever-lasting memories with his contribution to Indian Cricket.
