Mumbai, Jul 4: Kris Srikkanth, the chairman of Indian senior selection committee said here on Wednesday, that he wanted Yuvraj Singh back in the Indian team for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka.
Yuvraj, who has resumed training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, is hoping to return for the World T20 which will be held in Sri Lanka from September 18 to October 7.
Srikkanth, speaking to reporters after announcing the Indian ODI and T20 team for Sri Lanka tour, said it was "good news" that the left-hander had started batting in NCA.
"It is good news that Yuvraj has started net practice at NCA. We want Yuvraj back in the Indian team for T20 World Cup," Srikkanth said on Wednesday.
"It is good news for all of us that Yuvraj has started training again," he added.
Yuvraj who underwent chemotherapy for a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs, has not played cricket for more than six months.
Recently, he said that he wants to get back to India colours for the World T20.
