Truro, Jul 9: England women registered a three-wicket victory over Indian women to level the five-match One Day International series 2-2 at Boscawen Park here on Sunday.
It has been a remarkable come back by the hosts after being down 0-2 in the series. Sarah Taylor and Jenny Gunn were the stars for England in another low-scorer.
Chasing 174 for victory, England completed the win in 49 overs, losing seven wickets. Player-of-the-match Gunn guided the team to victory in a tense finish after the hosts kept losing wickets in the middle.
Gunn remained not out on 36 off 46 balls with four boundaries. Earlier, Taylor had made a 68-ball 43 with six fours.
For India, Nagarajan Niranjana took three wickets for 24 overs off 10 overs. Ekta Bisht had two wickets for 42 in nine overs.
Earlier, sent into bat, India's batting was yet again a failure. It was upto captain Mithali Raj to once again bring some respectability to the total. After hitting two nineties in previous games, she registered another half century.
Mithali scored 58 off 111 balls with six fours. Harmanpreet Kaur was the next best contributor with 55 runs off 74 balls with four boundaries and a six. Opener Poonam Raut made 24
Barring Mithali, Harmanpreet and Poona, rest of the batting line-up collapsed. Other eight batswomen had only single-digit scores.
Arran Brindle was the top wicket-taker for England. She dismissed three batswomen for a match figures of 3/20 in five overs. Danielle Wyatt took two wickets.
The fifth and final match of the series takes place in Wormsley on July 11, Wednesday.
