New Delhi, Jul 11: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has admitted that he opted out of the Sri Lankan tour to spend quality time with his family as he has been playing continuously for 10 months now and deserved to take a break.
"I requested BCCI that I wanted to spend time with my family. This is the time for school holidays. If I had decided to go to Sri Lanka, I would have started my preparation by now. But I wanted to spend some quality time with my children since after this I would be playing continuously for next 10 months," he said.
His stress on holidays, ensured that he was taking up more responsibilities as a father than as a cricketer, as he had to spend some time with them.
"Holidays are different from spending time during school days or on weekends."
Tendulkar is a protective father as he is concerned about his kids' future said that, he would never force them rather leave it to Arjun and Sara to choose their careers.
Arjun has been creating waves in the U-14 team after being successful while playing for his school team.
Talking about his kids and their passion, Sachin said, "Arjun is passionate about cricket and Sara is passionate about medicine. But every individual is different. I want to guide them and support them.
"I don't want to force them and will like them to choose their fields. I will only have good wishes for them and tell them to enjoy whatever they do," he said.
This phase surely suggests that Tendulkar's responsibilities are doubled as he is also entering another new phase of life as a Member of Parliament and on the other hand, being a protective and a doting father to his kids.
Though his hunger for cricket and scoring runs remains afresh even after 23 years since his debut against Pakistan in 1989, Tendulkar feels its apt to take a break from the sport that he is madly in love with and spend some qulaity time with his family.
