Boucher fears 'left-eye removal'

London, Jul 15: South African wicket-keeper fears of losing his left eye following a freak eye injury which forced him to quit international cricket.

The 35 year old who suffered an eye injury after a dislodged bail flew into his face during the first day of the tour match against Somerset last Monday, had to announce his retirement following an extensive damage to his left eye.

"Even if he keeps the eye, he will see only in black and white. He has already lost 30-40 per cent of the eye, and there are no guarantees he will be able to keep the rest of it," the Daily Mail quoted a close friend of Boucher, as saying.

Reports suggest that the bail had severely lacerating his eye, which also might lead to the 35-year old former South African wicket-keeper's removal of the eye if there were complications during the surgery.
