Bangalore, Jul 20: India Under-19 coach B Arun is confident that team's recent successes over other countries will help them in going all the way to the trophy at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Australia next month.
In the last one year, India have beaten all team barring South Africa. This form has made the coach and players confident ahead of their campaign in the World Cup.
Currently preparing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here in Bangalore, Arun is confident of India's good showing in Australia.
"We have played all teams except South Africa over the last year and we have beaten all teams and that gives us the confidence to do well in the World Cup," Arun said at the NCA on Thursday.
"Self-belief is often drawn largely from what you have done in the past. We won the Quadrangular in Australia, the one in India and in the Asia Cup final we finished joint winners against Pakistan," he added.
He continued: "Ours is a well-balanced squad and it would be unfair to name a few key players. Yes captain Unmukt Chand has done well but everyone has chipped in too. There have been contributions like 25 runs in 10 balls but that often escapes attention. As for the short-ball in Australia, we are well prepared and besides, most members of the team played in the Quadrangular in Australia."
This year's ICC Under-19 World Cup will begin on August 11 and concluded on August 26. India play their first game on August 12 against the West Indies. India are in Group B. Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea are the other two teams in the group.
