Hambantota, Jul 22: Virat Kohli has revealed that he is "motivated" when he wears the India blue jersey and it is his "responsibility" to score runs.
Kohli was once again India's batting star as the team won by 21 runs against Sri Lanka in their opening One Day International at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old from Delhi has been in tremendous batting form over the last six month or so and he continued his rich vein of form. He registered his 12th ODI ton on Saturday and a hat-trick of centuries against Sri Lanka.
Speaking after the match, where won the Man-of-the-Match award, Kohli said: "I get really motivated when I put on the India jersey. It is a responsibility. So I want to perform the best way I can."
"I was fortunate to have done well on a consistent basis. It was a matter of going out there and applying yourself and look for the best possible result," Kohli added.
"The ball travels much quicker off the bat in the night. We made a few mistakes in the field because we had not played here before," the Indian vice-captain said.
