Hambantota, Jul 25: Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene heaped praise on Thisara Perera and the team for putting up a great show on Tuesday to register their first win in the series and said the team is hungry for more.
Mahela also said the team couldn't believe how things have changed in the last few days as they were defeated by India in the first ODI by 21 runs and the same venue witnessed yet another turnaround, as they thrashed India by 9 wickets on Tuesday.
"It's funny what two days does to you. Last night, we made quite a few mistakes and we did a lot of good things today. We have shown that we can bounce back, the guys have the hunger," he said.
Talking about Upul Tharanga, Mahela said he had not seen the opener bat like that in recent times.
"Good to see the old Upul back in form. I haven't seen Upul bat like this in a while, his timing, his form."
With a magnificent bowling attack, Lankans rip through the Indian batting line-up as Angelo Mathews' 3/19 and Perera's 3/14 set the tone as they bundled India to a paltry 138.
"Thisara and Angelo did the job for us," he said.
After the match, the man who scripted a nine wicket win for Lanka, Thisara Perera said, he was very happy with the performance and thanked his team mates for showing faith in his abilities.
"Very happy with my performance. Have to thank my team-mates. I don't think too much about my performance, just want to give my best on the field," he said.
