India can perform well abroad: Tendulkar

New Delhi, Jul 27: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has expressed confidence in the Indian Cricket team as he said we will definitely do well against England and Australia at home later this year, while the team has plans to prepare well before an away series in future.

Defending India's debacle, Sachin Tendulkar said when India lost the Test series against England and Australia the opponents had the advantage of playing at home and when India plays well at home conditions, the team is criticised for doing well only in sub-continent conditions.

"We need to look at one factor. When we played against Australia, they were the home team. England also played at home. There is no point in saying that India only plays well at home. Why do we always look at one side of the coin, it should be always fair," the senior batsman said.

Though he denied that it was an excuse for India's debacle in away Tests, he said it is not impossible since the team has achieved the feat before. Sachin also stressed on team's aim to do well abroad.

"I feel that it does not come as an excuse for us to go somewhere and not play well. We need to go abroad and win. It's as simple as that. We have done it before (winning abroad). Both England and Australia tours were tough for us. We should make every possible effort to perfect our preparation and produce better results," Tendulkar told a news channel.

When asked what will be the strategy before playing every match, Tendulkar said "Ideally, we want to win each and every match and that is how we want to prepare ourselves. But sometimes, it's humanly impossible. There are some ups and downs. The best of the teams have rather faced or seen the other side of the coin."

India's disastrous tours have led to many issues as BCCI Chief N Srinivasan also discussed with Coach Duncan Fletcher about the reasons for the team's losses to England and Australia last year recently when the team was in Chennai. Moreover, this has been the topic for discussion many a times in the meetings conducted by BCCI officials, but still awaits an outcome.

With Sachin Tendulkar's words of confidence assures that the team is working hard at playing well in away Tests, the question is are we being complacent on a few issues as things are not falling in place especially when it comes to playing abroad.
