Colombo, Aug 2: Unfortunately Indian fans were harrassed by Sri Lankans after India defeated Lanka by six wickets in the fourth ODI to wrap up the series 3-1 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.
An Indian journalist had tweeted saying that a fan of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar who around the world with the team, was forced to wave the Sri Lankan flag and was later physically abused as the drunk Lankan fans also threw a few objects at him.
The Indian journalist also tweeted saying that a few Sri Lankan fans threw beer cans at an Indian woman and there was a lot jeering and booing at the Indian fans amidst a tight police presence.
According to the Indian journalist, the Indian fan said he had never faced such harassment around the world.
"Even Bangladesh fans were cultured compared to the Sri Lankans," the journalist quoted the Indian fan as saying.
While this incident drew attention, many Sri Lanka and Indian journalists were disappointed with the behaviour of the drunk Lankan fans.
Former Sri Lanka cricketer turned Commentator Russel Arnold also tweeted saying that he was shocked to see such an incident and hopes it doesn't repeat again.
The Sri Lankan board also stated that it will take appropriate action soon.
