Bangalore, Aug 5: Indian squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand will be picked on August 10 and MS Dhoni is likely to remain captain.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee will meet at 11:30 am on Friday, 10 August 2012, at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai, to pick the Indian team for the Test series against New Zealand in August-September 2012, and the subsequent India 'A' tour of New Zealand," said a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) media release on Saturday.
BCCI's senior selection committee will, in all likelihood keep Dhoni as the skipper of the Test team. In spite of his poor overseas record in recent time where India lost 0-8 to England and Australia, Dhoni is the number one choice. There were talks of Gautam Gambhir to be elevated to captaincy but he has to wait for now.
It would be interesting to know who the selectors will pick, to replace the retired Rahul Dravid.
India and New Zealand will play two Test matches and two Twenty20 Internationals. The first Test starts on August 23 in Hyderabad while the second will be played in Bangalore from August 31.
