Bangalore, Aug 7: Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad on Monday was appointed as the coach of Uttar Pradesh Ranji team for two years starting this season as Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Secretary Rajiv Shukla also confirmed the news.
Shukla pleased with Venkatesh Prasad being chosen as UP team coach, said that the pacer's experience as coach of various teamd would help Uttar Pradesh.
"He has a wonderful work ethic and knows what is expected at this level," Shukla added.
Prasad while talking to Deccan Herald, said that he had received an offer to coach UP team, but had to work on the terms and conditions of the contract.
Venkatesh Prasad, who was associated with the Indian Cricket Team and IPL team Chennai Super Kings for the last few years, was also the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural edition of Indian Premier League.
Karnataka players have been the ruling the season as they have been offered to coach Ranji teams as former players K Sanath Kumar, Sunil Joshi Sujith Somasundar are associated with Baroda, Hyderabad and Kerala respectively.
Venkatesh Prasad becomes the fourth player from Karnataka to be roped in for a coaching assignment.
