Toronto, Aug 9: Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has rated Krishnamachari Srikkanth as one of the best opening partners he had, also saying that the Chairman of the Selection Committee, had 'liberated' him as a batsman.
Reminiscing the glorious days of Indian cricket, Gavaskar said Srikkanth had a positive influence on him as the right-handed batsman had encouraged Gavaskar to play the shots.
"As my opening partner, Srikkanth somehow liberated me as a batsman. He used to encourage me to play the shots that I wouldn't otherwise offer. He had a positive influence on me," said Gavaskar.
