Kolkata, Aug 11: Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly on friday said he was surprised over Yuvraj Singh's inclusion in the final squad for the T20 World Cup.
Ganguly also said that he had no doubt about Yuvraj's quality as a cricketer but he was surprised over the flamboyant batsman's inclusion for ICC World Twenty20, to be held next month at Sri Lanka.
"I have no doubt about Yuvraj's quality as a cricketer," he said on Friday.
Sourav Ganguly wasn't sure of Yuvraj's fitness as he was recovering from a rare germ cell cancer.
"He is a class act, but I am not very sure about his fitness. He is recovering from a serious illness and I hope he will be able to withstand the grind of international cricket," he said.
Moreover, the Prince of Kolkata, also expressed his displeasure about the Test squad that was announced on Friday for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
Ganguly also stressed on the fact that the selectors had not changed the Test squad which lost two overseas Test series against England and Australia.
"I am disappointed," he said. "It's surprising that there hasn't been any change to the side that lost last eight Tests abroad," he added.
When asked Ganguly about the ageing VVS Laxman who retained his place in the side, he said "Age should not be a criterion as long as a cricketer is performing," as the stylish right-hander had recently scored a ton for Hyderabad in the domestic circuit.
