Bangalore, Aug 15: Sachin Tendulkar, on Wednesday, trained at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), as he began preparations for the two-Test series against New Zealand.
Tendulkar, who skipped the Sri Lankan tour recently where India played five One Day Internationals and a Twenty20 International, will be back in action in Tests from August 23 when India face New Zealand.
The 39-year-old batted at the NCA outdoor nets, facing Zaheer Khan and other bowlers. Tendulkar has not played competitive cricket since the Indian Premier League 5 which ended on May 27. Tendulkar will continue to train at NCA for few more days.
Tendulkar's last match for India was an ODI on March 18 against Pakistan during the Asia Cup in Bangladesh. During the same tournament Tendulkar completed a century of international tons.
Along with Tendulkar, India's Test players are also training at the NCA.
The first Test will be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad from August 23. The second and final Test is in Bangalore from August 31.
When Tendulkar takes the field on August 23, it will be the first time that the Master Blaster will be playing international cricket since becoming a Member of Parliament. Tendulkar, who was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, last Wednesday, attended his first Parliament session.
