Time for Team India to look beyond Dravid, Laxman

Team India gears up for NZ Tests

Hyderabad, Aug 21: A strenous training session to start with, as Team India gears up for the first Test of the season against New Zealand on Thursday.

MS Dhoni and team warmed up the session by playing football before getting into intensive training which included batting, bowling and fielding sessions at Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium on Monday.

While the entire team enjoyed a strenous session, Sachin Tendulkar prepared for his first international match after Asia Cup as he looked confident of facing the Kiwis. Moreover, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir also ensured that they got some batting practice before winding it up by playing a football match among themselves.

Pacers Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav were quite confident on Monday as they sent some good deliveries to the batsmen, spinners R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha also had a bowl at nets.

The hosts who had a net session on Monday afternoon, also enjoyed a game of football while the visitors had finished their session in the morning.

With the team playing its first match of the season, Team India will look to move ahead of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman as they will besorely missed by team mates when they play New Zealand at Hyderabad.

Since it is the first match in their absence it remains to be seen if the youngsters are ready to fill in the void created by the Indian giants.
