New Delhi, Aug 27: Virat Kohli, who has been in prolific form over the last few years, has said that he worships master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, and feels elated to be compared with the legendary cricketer.
Kohli, being the fastest to score 1000 and 3000 ODI runs, said he cannot emulate Sachin's records though the veteran feels Virat Kohli as a worthy competitior to achieve the historic feat of 100 internatioanl tons.
"I feel really blessed when people start comparing me with Sachin, but I keep myself focused on my performance, and not on such comparisons. I literally worship him, so, I don't see too much in this comparison," Kohli said.
When asked Kohli, if he could emulate Sachin's record, the Delhi-lad said he doesn't want to think about it and would rather focus on winning matches for India.
"No cricketer has been able to score one hundred centuries like Sachin. It will be a big achievement. I don't think at all about this, because it increases pressure on you. I keep myself focused on my performance," he said during India TV's show 'Aap Ki Adalat'.
Kohli who was offered the role as a vice captain, and could be India's captain in future according to experts, said it has been a learning curve and doesn't want to think about captaincy as Dhoni has been doing a great job for the country.
"No, I don't think so. As captain, he (Dhoni) has done a lot for Team India. I learnt a lot as a vice-captain," he said.
Kohli who has been in his prime, has so far got 5 MOM awards in 2012, which shows how consistently he is being performing for the country.
With a few records to his credit, being compared with the legendary cricketer and trying to be grounded is something that needs to be appreciated.
Though Sachin Tendulkar's records cannot be emulated, Virat Kohli looks promising to challenge a few of his feats, if not 100 international tons, as the young lad himself has said that it would be impossible to achieve that historic feat again.
