Dubai, Aug 28: With a magnificent 10 wicket haul in the first Test against New Zealand, India's R Ashwin jumped to his career-best 25th position in ICC Test rankings.
Ashwin who claimed 6/31 and 6/54 in the first Test against New Zealand to help his team bundle out NZ for 159 and 164 in the first and the second innings respectively as India enforced follow-on, as they were short by 80 runs.
Having wrapped the Test within 4 days, with a few sessions washed out due to rain, Indian spin-duo were outstanding as they claimed 18 wickets with Ashwin taking the lion's share having grabbed 12/85 as Pragyan Ojha claimed 6/92 to beat New Zealand by an innings and 115 runs.
Moreover, it was indeed a good start for Ashwin as well as Team India as he climbed three places to be placed 78 in the ICC Test rankings for batmsen with his knock of 37 to help India post a mammoth 438 in the first innings.
If that wasn't sweeter, his all-round performance fetched him the 12th position in the Test all-round rankings.
Pragyan Ojha as well jumped to 15th spot in ICC Test rankings for bowlers, his career-best following his 6/92 in the first Test.
While the list is still being headed by South Africa's speedster Dale Steyn, as Vernon Philander, fellow South African and Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal are placed second and third respectively.
Indian batsmen apart from skipper Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, others have dropped as Sachin Tendulkar is out of the Top 10, placed 11th, while Raina is placed 80th.
MS Dhoni climbed three places and secured the 40th position, while Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara are placed 49th and 58th in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen.
Sri Lanka Kumar Sangakkara, heads the table for batsmen while South Africa's Hashim Amla and Shivnarine Chanderpaul of West Indies remain second and third in ICC Test rankings for batsmen.
