Chennai, Aug 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to have a grand reception for the stylish batsman from Hyderabad, VVS Laxman who announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect ahead of the first Test at Hyderabad.
BCCI is planning to felicitate VVS Laxman on September 10 at Chennai, ahead of the final T20 international between India and New Zealand at Chennai.
With the entire squad in Chennai, BCCI officials felt it would be nice to have the felicitation at Chennai ahead of the second T20 international, according to a source.
"It's still at a planning stage. We would like to have the players of both the Indian and New Zealand teams for the programme," the source said.
Moreover, the source also added that BCCI is planning to invite the Big three who have retired from international cricket but shared the dressing room with stylish batsman from Hyderabad to attend the felicitation to make the event 'very very special' for Laxman.
"We had given receptions to all our top players, starting from Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble to Rahul Dravid. Laxman, too, is in the same league, and we want this to be our token of appreciation for the player," the source added.
