India U-19 champs arrive in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 28: India Under-19 team, the World Champions of 2012, arrived here on Tuesday at the Mumbai airport to a grand welcome from fans.

Unmukt Chand-led side won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup on Sunday by defeating Australia in Townsville.

Later today, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will felicitate the team.

Chand and his boys were given a huge welcome in Mumbai. As the players boarded the bus and displayed the trophy from inside, a posse of media photographers and fans kept clicking their pictures. Players kept flashing the "V" sign from the bus and greeted their supporters.

The 18-year-old Chand, walked out of the airport holding the trophy, surrounded by security personnel. Harmeet Singh, one of the brightest stars of the World Cup, was received with a big garland by his supporters and family members. Other players too were garlanded amid the beats of dhol.

Many players were seen kissing the trophy inside the bus. Some of the players' family members too were at the airport to receive the world champions.

India won their third U-19 World Cup title in Australia. Earlier, India had won in 2000 and 2008.

Chand, the Delhi boy, hit an unbeaten 111 in the final against Australia to steer the team to a six-wicket win. Australia was led by William Bosisto. The hosts had won the title in 2010.
