Bangalore, Aug 30: India's U-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand, who played a significant role in the final against Australia at Townsville to help his team win its third title by defeating the hosts by 6 wickets revealed that master blaster Sachin Tendulkar's tips helped them get accustomed to those pitches, and emerge victorious.
Having spoken to the legendary cricketer ahead of the U-19 World Cup, the youngsters could regain the coveted title as they had won it in 2000 and 2008 earlier.
"Tips given by Sachin was very helpful for us. He had played far too many matches in Australia and gave tips on the kind of pitches you would get during the World Cup. He also shared his experiences of combating pressure. So it was very helpful for us," he told reporters in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, his association with Delhi Daredevils meant he was playing alongside Virender Sehwag, the dashing opener cum team captain. Unmukt also said that having played matches with Sehwag, boosted his confidence and helped him improve his cricketing skills.
"I have played lot of matches alongside Sehwag for Delhi. He gives me a lot of useful batting tips. It builds my confidence," he said.
Moreover, the youngster also added that his hobby of penning down things in a diary helps him improvise as he ensures that he doesn't commit the errors again.
"I get to learn from my diary where I jot things good and bad which I cannot forget. I then try not to repeat bad things. Maintaining a diary helps," he said.
he young lad from Delhi, who is passionate about cricket, also loves reading books and said that he has been penning down the moments since his childhood.
"I have passion for reading books and I had been doing it since my childhood. You get to know many things and happen to come across many views of the people. This helps building leadership qualities," he said.
U-19 World Cup winning captain also said that he is able to manage studies and cricket quite well.
"If there is time I play cricket, if it isn't I study. Hence I am able to balance cricket and studies well," he said.
