Bangalore Test: Day 3 Highlights

Bangalore, Sep 2: R Ashwin put India on road to a clean sweep of the series against New Zealand on the third day of the second and final Test here on Sunday.

At close, New Zealand were 232/9, an overall lead of 244 with two day's left.

Here are the highlights of Day 3.

# R Ashwin took his fifth five-wicket haul in Tests

# Pragyan Ojha took two wickets, to take his match haul to seven

# Ashwin took his Test tally of wickets to 49 in eight Tests

# More than 20,000 people watched the day's play at the stadium on Sunday

# In this series, Ashwin has so far taken 18 wickets

# In the first Test, he took 12 for 85 and had one in the first innings here

# New Zealand captain Ross Taylor completed 3,000 Test runs when he was on 10

# Taylor is the 12th Kiwi batsman to cross 3,000

# He has 3,025 runs now in 41 Tests

# India captain-wicketkeeper MS Dhoni effected his 30th Test stumping today and became only the second Indian stumper after SMH Kirmani to complete 30. Kirmani finished with 38 stumpings

# Virat Kohli completed his second Test century. His first came in Adelaide against Australia earlier this year

# Tim Southee took a career best 7/64. He had missed the first Test in Hyderabad

# Southee's 7/64 is the best bowling effort by a New Zealander against India on Indian soil. The previous best was 6 for 27 by Dion Nash in Mohali in October 1999

# Southee's figures are also a new ground record for the best innings bowling effort in a Test in Bangalore. The previous best was Bob Willis of England (6/53 in January 1977)

# Kohli and Dhoni added 122 runs for the sixth wicket

# Dhoni's half century today was his 21st fifty as India captain. Sunil Gavaskar had scored 25 fifties. He is the other Indian captain to score 20 or more fifties.

# Dhoni's half century makes him the only captain-wicket keeper to score 21 fifties

# Overall, it was Dhoni's 26th Test half century in 69th Test
