Zaheer Khan sets new bowling record

Bangalore, Sep 3: Zaheer Khan has joined a select group of India bowlers who have taken 100 or more Test wickets at home.

The left-arm paceman achieved this on Monday, the fourth day of the India-New Zealand Test here at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Zaheer dismissed Jeetan Patel, caught by MS Dhoni, for his 100th wicket in India.

He is the only eighth Indian to in the group which is headed by former India captain and legspinner Anil Kumble.

Kumble is on top with 350 dismissals followed by Harbhajan Singh (258), Kapil Dev (219), BS Chandrasekhar (142), Bishan Singh Bedi (137), Javagal Srinath (108), Vinoo Mankad (103).

The 33-year-old Zaheer is playing his 85th Test in Bangalore. He made his debut against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2000. Till today, he has 291 Test scalps.
