Dubai, Sep 4: After a fabulous performance in the Test series against New Zealand, R Ashwin and Virat Kohli have earned their career-best rankings as the spinner broke into Top 20, Virat jumped to 35th position.
R Ashwin, who took 18 wickets in the series against New Zealand, moved to 18th position as he gained 26 places following his brilliant show against Kiwis.
For the first time, he broke into the Top 20 for bowlers in tests as he is currently placed 18th, with a career-high rating of 591.
While Pragyan Ojha also moved a place up to 14th spot, which is his career-best ranking with an overall rating of 675.
Similarly, Virat Kohli who scored a magnificent ton and a fifty in the second Test against New Zealand in Bangalore, gained 12 places to earn his career-best ranking of 35, with an overall rating of 580.
Moreover, with a poor run with the bat, Sachin Tendulkar has slipped to 16th (earlier was on 11th), while Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara all have slipped to 23rd, 38th and 58th respectively.
Similarly, Zaheer Khan (15th), Umesh Yadav (48th) dropped a place each, while Ashwin and Ojha moved up.
Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara leads the table as South Africa's Hashim Amla and West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul are placed second and third in the Test rankings for batsmen.
South Africa's Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal continue to retain their top three positions in ICC rankings for bowlers in Tests.
Though the 2-0 series win gave India 2 two rating points they are placed fifth with 106 points, three behind Pakistan.
