Bangalore, Sep 4: India's Under-19 World Cup hero Harmeet Singh was honoured by Punjabi Global Foundation in Mumbai on Tuesday, an official press release said.
President of Punjabi Global Foundation Gurpreet Kaur Chaddha along with Sardar Singh Suri and Surinder Singh honoured the left-arm spinner.
Harmeet, who emerged one of the most economical bowler of the tournament, bowled very well in the final against Australia giving away just 36 runs in his 10-over spell.
India won the U-19 World Cup for the third time, on August 26 in Townsville.
"I always dreamed of living as a star and now the same feeling is there in his heart. Family support and good coordination among team members was the reason behind victory", said Harmeet.
Gurpreet Kaur said: "We are very happy that our child made his mark in Indian cricket team U-19. It's a proud feeling for us and we wish him a great future ahead."
Former Australian captain Ian Chappell had high praise for Harmeet, comparing him to the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi.
