Bangalore, Sep 5: Forget Test and One Day Internationals for now. Starting from today, for over a month it is all about Twenty20 cricket.
With ICC World Twenty20 2012 set to kick start in Sri Lanka on September 18, at least six top teams including India, will be involved in next seven days, in various parts of the world, tuning up for the mega event.
September 5 will mark the beginning of preparations in Dubai. Australia, the World 2010 runners-up will be up against Pakistan, the winners in World T20 in 2009.
On September 8, India will host New Zealand in the first of the two T20 Internationals in Visakhapatnam while on the same day England South Africa lock horns at Chester-le-street.
India, on Monday, won the two-match Test series 2-0. But the purest form of cricket will take a back seat among the Indian players.
The first T20I for India will be the most anticipated in the country as Yuvraj Singh is all set to return to the cricket field for the first time in almost a year.
After battling a rare germ cell cancer, Yuvraj has fully recovered now and is ready to enthrall his fans.
India, the winners of the inaugural World T20 edition in 2007 in South Africa, have seen them not be able to produce same kind of performances.
This time around, they will be hoping to make the best use of subcontinent. The pitches in Sri Lanka should suit MS Dhoni and his men.
So, from today, till October 7, the day of World T20 final, T20 is the cynosure of all eyes.
