New Delhi, Sep 5: Having won the U-19 World Cup for India in Australia, the 19 year old Unmukt Chand, remains down to earth as he visited his school teachers to seek their blessings for his future endeavours, on the eve of teachers' day.
This sweet gesture needs to be appreciated as it shows his regard and respect to his school and its staff who moulded him and helped him reach this level.
The first thing that Unmukt did when he visited Modern School, was to reach the staffroom and seek blessings of all the teachers.
The cricketer who scored a magnificent ton in the U-19 WC final to guide India safe and lift the trophy for the third time, credited his success to his teachers as they moulded him and without their co-operation couldn't have achieved anything in life.
"This victory wouldn't have been possible had my teachers not blessed and prayed!" said Unmukt.
"All my teachers cooperated with me while I was away playing for the state or the country," he added.
It is learnt that the cricketer was visiting the school had spread throughout as children lined up in the corridor to take his autograph.
Unmukt's school principal Lata Vaidyanathan also said that the school had encouraged the cricketing hero throughout, as she was very modest to accept the fact that she had supported Unmukt to overcome all hurdles.
"Encouraged Unmukt in all walks of life including attendance problems, supporting him for his training and getting him academic help when he missed his classes", said the Principal.
Unmukt further prasied the school coach Navneet Chopra who spotted the talent in him and got Unmukt into limelight.
The 19 year old also heaped praise on Feroz Bakht Sir, who has also mentored Gautam Gambhir, as he attributed his success to all his coaches and teachers.
It doesn't take big things to make people happy, just a sweet gesture like this can make people who have taught us happy, and that is what the young lad from Delhi did and all the teachers of Modern School are overwhelmed with Unmukt's sweet gesture.
