Johannesburg, Sep 11: South Africa's T20 captain AB de Villiers, is confident about his team's chances at ICC World T20 after a three-wicket win over World's No 1 team, England as it has boosted the team's morale ahead of the mega event that is starting on September 18.
Playing at Chester-le-Street pitch taking turn, the kind of surface that might help them at World T20, South Africa played very well to restrict the champions to 118/7, as Robin Peterson and Johan Botha picked 4 wickets each, which gave South Africa a 1-0 lead in the three match T20 series.
Talking about the win ahead of the World Cup, AB de Villiers was excited but at the same time said the team is on the right track and would expect to do well in the remaining matches inorder to finish the series on a high ahead of World T20.
"Definitely, it's very similar to what we are expecting," Sports24 quoted De Villiers, as saying.
When asked about the pitch, he said the track was very slow and it was something that Proteas could expect during the T20 WC, and moreover was very pleased with the bowlers' performance.
"There was a little bit of turn, it was quite slowish. It was really good preparation. The bowlers had really clear plans and I'm proud of the way they came out. They made my job really easy out there," he added.
