Sri Lanka win warm-up game

Colombo, Sep 13: Unbeaten half centuries from captain Mahela Jayawardene and opener Tillakaratne Dilshan powered Sri Lanka to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over West Indies in a Twenty20 warm-up game ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 2012 here on Thursday.

After restricting West Indies to 132/6 in 20 overs, the hosts completed the chase in 15.4 overs with the loss of opener Dilshan Munaweera.

Dilshan and Jayawardene put on 123 for an unfinished second wicket partnership. Jayawardene was undefeated 57 off 35 balls with six fours and two sixes. Dilshan hit one six and four boundaries in his 38-ball 50 not out.

West Indies rested Chris Gayle from this match. Ravi Rampaul was the only bowler who was successful for them. Johnson Charles topscored with 30.

Sri Lanka's injured duo of Nuwan Kulasekara and wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara made a return to competitive cricket. Kulasekara took two wickets while Sangakkara took one catch.

Brief Scores: West Indies 132/6 in 20 overs (Johnson Charles 30, Darren Bravo 29, Kieron Pollard 28 not out, Nuwan Kulasekara 2/35) lost to Sri Lanka 135/1 in 15.4 overs (Mahela Jayawardene 57 not out, Tillakaratne Dilshan 50 not out, Dilshan Munaweera 24)
