Colombo, Sep 15: India's Gautam Gambhir injured his wrist during the first warm-up match against Sri Lanka at P Sara Oval on Saturday.
Gambhir who came out to bat with Virender Sehwag, injured his wrist in the first over, off Lasith Malinga, as a delivery hit him on the hand and was sent for a check up immediately.
This raises a lot of doubts over his fitness ahead of World T20 that is starting on Tuesday, as Gambhir happens to be the highest run scorer for India in T20 internationals in the World Cup.
Gambhir has scored 444 runs off 16 matches with a highest score of 75, at an average of 29.60 and a strike rate of 119.35 so far in the World Cup.
With the Delhi opener injuring his wrist in the first warm-up game against Sri Lanka, its a huge blow for the team, though the seriousness of the injury is not known yet. Team India hopes that the injury is not serious as they play their second warm-up match against Pakistan on Sep 17 and their first match of the tournament against Afghanistan on Sep 19.
