On the first day of the Irani Cup at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Ishant looked fully fit as he consistently bowled at good pace on greenish wicket. Rest of India captain Cheteshwar Pujara had won the toss and chosen to bowl first.
The 24-year-old last played a first-class game (Test) in January on the tour of Australia. After that he underwent ankle surgery in March, which had kept him out of the Indian Premier League.
Ishant had played a 50-over game in February for Delhi after the Adelaide Test in January.
The tall paceman, who has played 45 Tests so far, has 133 wickets. In 47 ODIs, he has 64 scalps.
